From a pioneering IB World School in 2006 to mainland China's only IB Continuum School today.
Founded 2006
A vision for international education in Shanghai.
WISS was founded in 2006 with a clear mission: to inspire curious, principled, internationally minded learners through the International Baccalaureate. From day one, we built our school around inquiry, language acquisition, and the IB learner profile.
Within a decade, WISS had earned authorisation to deliver all four IB programmes — a distinction held by no other school in mainland China. Our 18-acre, purpose-built campus was designed by Weimar Architects of the Bauhaus University to support the full breadth of academic, athletic, and creative learning.

- 2006 — School founded in Xujing, Shanghai
- 2008 — IB Primary Years Programme authorisation
- 2011 — IB Middle Years Programme authorisation
- 2013 — IB Diploma Programme authorisation
- 2018 — IB Career-related Programme authorisation
- 2018 — Full IB Continuum status (PYP–MYP–DP–CP)
- Today — 65+ nationalities · 18-acre campus · 1:8 ratio
